Description

Mira Fuchs is an expert private dancer and the public face of choreographer and visual artist Melanie Jame Wolf’s eight-year private life working as a stripper in one of the largest clubs in Melbourne. Drawing on the artist’s, experience audiences are invited to critically reflect on their own position in relation to stripping. Structured as an essay of thirteen fragments for an intimate audience of forty people, MIRA FUCHS (a reprise) is a work about work, a performance about performance. It is an abstracted memoir of the body as a political riddle.

Moving across choreography, performance, text, moving image, sculpture, and installation, Melanie Jame Wolf’s (AU) work is concerned with the problems and poetics of class, sensuality, gender, narratology, the radical vulnerability of the live moment, and the body as an unruly political riddle. In her practice, performance is understood as a technology of survival.
