Announced as “Apocalyptic Piano Bar Drag Musical on Acid”, with Puddles the Pelican, a decrepit bird in the distant future of anthropogenic environmental destruction, Puddles Rising by Jeremy Wade shows that feeling bad is not simply the result of bad individual choices, but the result of structural violence and an endless list of unrealistic norms that govern the body from the inside out and the outside in.
Jeremy Wade (DE) is a dancer, choreographer, performance maker, curator, teacher, social practitioner and disability social justice activist. In this piece, Wade performs on an apocalyptic cruise ship as a hallucinatory, over-the-top, bizarre and absurd garbage-busting android, a tragic sufferer and a scrappy cabaret queen called Puddles the Pelican.
Performance in English with surtitles.
