Description

Dioscures is the coming together of two performer-dancers, exploring the mythological figures that inspire Spanish choreographer Marta Izquierdo. On one hand, the Titans of Greek mythology, those ancient colossi who once inhabited Olympus before being cast out by Zeus and his divine siblings. On the other hand, the heroic and tragic figures of the inseparable twins Castor and Pollux. Like all the characters she delves into, they embody a certain ambiguity. For example, the etymology of the name Titan is "the one who dwells in the heavens," yet the same name is also said to be the origin of the word "Satan" in Hebrew. As for Castor and Pollux, they alternately traverse the realms of the living and the dead.

Thibaut Michel and Ébène share an imposing stature, appearing as two Titan-like brothers. However, these giants, far from exhibiting monolithic masculinity, are androgynous, allowing for a divergence between the character and the performer. The project places them in a mirror-like juxtaposition, within intricate games of refracted reflections, blending different choreographic styles and languages.
