"Whats The Tea?" Kiki Function

Small Arts Platform

Description

"Whats The Tea?" is an African-American Vernacular English phrase and an invitation to share news, gossip and all the such. The Austrian ballroom organization EatSlayLove is joining forces with national and international members of the community to host the "Whats The Tea?" Kiki Function. A panel of three international judges is going to guarantee that all walkers are judged solely on their skill and the way they perform in the moment - or did she just give it to her girlfriend? That's gossip, gurl...

The NYC ballroom of the Queer Black and LatinX community has become a global phenomenon and a synonym for a network of creatives, activists, and organizers for the LGBTQ+ scene. Ljubljana's third ball is created in connection with the Kiki House of Moonlight and Father Plenvm Moonlight in particular, who had connections to the Slovenian queer art scene through the Small Arts Platform (2023) as well as the City of Women (2013). With his organization EatSlayLove, Plenvm organizes spaces for the community and creates job opportunities as well as spaces for learning and resource sharing. Plenvm has been hosting balls since 2015 and is one of the trailblazers of the Austrian ballroom scene.

The judge panel will consist of members from three different international scenes (Croatia, Netherlands and Slovakia) which is a first for the Slovenian ballroom and is sure to start some rumors!
