Performing Sexuality

The Mladinsko Theatre, in collaboration with Moderna galerija / Museum of Modern Art, has started a new programme focusing on contemporary performative practices, specifically, on different forms of performing. Our aim is to reflect on what it is that we consider performance and in what way we perceive different forms of conduct in the public space as forms of performing. We will centre on performance as an art form, as a system of expression – in theatre as well as in the field of visual arts – and on public performance as a form of conduct and presence.

The programme consists of several sections, forming thematic and discursive units conceived as a presentation of artistic projects and their theoretical framework (talks, lectures and knowledge production). We have titled the first section Performing Sexuality. Within it, we will observe sexual identity and sexual behaviour as performative practices and concentrate on their private and public significance.
