Melanie Jame Wolf: Dramaturgies of the Absurd: The Lap Dance (workshop)

Saturday / 14 Nov / 12:00 / Upper hall / Free entry

If the body is a political riddle, what might the absurd help solve? This three-hour workshop for professional dancers and performers will explore looking and being looked at, slapstick sensuality, scores for far away/so close dialectics, intimate spectacle, and performance-as-labour by working with, and against, possible movement vocabularies of the lap dance.

This workshop is for people with significant performance experience, of any body shape or size.

Moving across choreography, performance, text, moving image, sculpture, and installation, Melanie Jame Wolf’s (AU) work is concerned with the problems and poetics of class, sensuality, gender, narratology, the radical vulnerability of the live moment, and the body as an unruly political riddle. In her practice, performance is understood as a technology of survival.

Led by: Melanie Jame Wolf

The workshop is free of charge, but places are limited. To register, email info@emanat.si.
